Question:

Can anyone explain why the 2007 Yaris gets up to 40 mpg and the 2008 gets 4 less mpg? why downgrade fuel econ?

Maybe it represents a more accurate estimation of the cars fuel economy, the figure on the sticker is always 3 or 4 more mpg than you will actually get, but i doubt it.

  1. Government regulations have altered EPA estimates to adjust city and highway mileage estimates to "real-life" conditions. Thus, manufacturers have lowered their mpg estimates on the window stickers.

    This is due to the marked increase in traffic, stop and go driving and the fact that most drivers are too aggressive to achieve the earlier estimates.
