  1. That's the stupid thing with sky, you pay out all that money and still can't watch it.  I have had nothing but problems, I can never get a signal and have to keep paying £80 for them to come and fix it.  It's the biggest rip off.  Sorry I know I'm ranting now - but I can't even watch the boxing anymore and have to pay out to subscribe to sentanta.  I HATE SKY!

  2. Dunno the answer to that one, but I do know yr pain!

  3. It's a total bummer !! it always happens just when a really good movie is right at the end and just about getting to the good part of 'who dunn it' etc.....or your watching football (yer right !).. but it happens, unfortunately the Satellite system above the Earth is disturbed and the frequencies it transmites is broken, especially in storm cloudy conditions.

Consolation...you're not on your own !

  4. the dish is slighly out of line..............needs re positioning.................i have no problems with mine even in the worst thunderstorms because i have my own signal meter (£5 off ebay) and have positioned the dish myself at the optimum strength signal

  5. That's called a "rain fade" or "rain attenuation".  The rain absorbs the energy in the signal.  An extreme example of this is putting a mug of water in a microwave oven.  Of course there is not enough energy in the satellite signal to heat the rain water, but the rain can absorb enough energy to make the signal fade away.  This actually happens to all radio signals but becomes worse as the frequency increases.  The microwave frequencies used in satellite transmissions are very susceptible.

Make sure your dish is aimed correctly and has nothing in it's view of the satellite so that it receives the most signal.  Beyond that, the alternative is a larger dish antenna.

I hope this helps.  Please return and select a Best Answer from all of those submitted.
