i've been searching for day!!...i cant find any information about how whaling provides money for the community...can PLEASE!!!!, I AM BEGGING YOU!!...HELP ME FIND INFORMATION, MY DEBATE IF TOMORROW!!!

i'm in desperate need of help!!!

how does whaling help with economiy etc?!?!, and why should we whale, what good does it bring for the economy??

Cant' think of any way it helps the economy for a majority of people, unless it's done as a cultural act for Native peoples, who do it for food and ceremonial needs. I suppose it could boost their economy.

it only helps native people like eskimo's feed themselves in the bleak mid winter,

it feeds them, they get oil fuel, etc

other than that nobody should whale!

Let's for the moment disregard the ethics of whale hunting and concentrate on answering your question.

Whaling provides food to a community (presuming, of course, that the community acknowledges whale meat as food; currently that's widespread only in Japan).  There are also ancillary goods such as whale oil, ambergris, whale bone, and whale hide; these once were fairly important commodities (whale oil for artificial light, ambergris as an ingredient in perfumes, and whale bone in garment manufacture) but now are not so important.

So the hunting of the animal provides commodities.  Then there's the economic impact of the salaries to the ship-hands on the whaling vessel, and the associated service industries--manufacturers of ships, seafaring accessories, harpoons, and whale-harvesting tools; docks; processing and distribution and warehousing.  Not to mention the economic activities associated with production and transport of the fuel needed to operate the ship and the delivery trucks, etc.

And finally there's the impact on the leisure and entertainment industry when those sailors come into port...
