Question:

Can anyone give 1 good reason why the Celtics won't repeat?

I'm not a Celtics fan. But I think they are the overwhelming favorite to repeat. They won 66 games last year and dismantled the Lakers in the finals.

They have virtually the whole team back

The team will be even more cohesive and confident this year

Rondo will be more experienced and playoff tested

They will have home court advantage by virtue of playing in the weaker Eastern Conf

What is 1 good reason why they won't repeat. I don't even really want them to, I just think it's inevitable sans a major injury.

  1. corey did you watch the finals? james posey killed the lakers just as much as paul pierce, ray allen and i think even more than kg. he was their 6th man and played the 5th most important role on that team. hes irreplaceable, you cant find a player like that anywhere. who can lock down another teams best player and can spread the floor with his shooting.

this year boston has no bench, p.j brown and cassell might retire, they lost posey, dont get me wrong theyll still be very very good, but the team last year is completely different than their roster now

  2. Cuz in the off season, a lot of teams had trades and added new players to there team and got better but the Celtics didn't do anything. i think they won last year cuz Pual, Kevin, and Ray and some of the others never had a playoff ring and they wanted one really bad so they tried their hardest. next year they won't play exactly like they did this year cuz they already got wut the wanted. but they have a good chance of winning it again.

  3. they will certainly miss james posey on both ends of the court.  only thing i see that can go wrong is, that they dont have the same drive they had last season.  now that theyve finally won, it might go to their heads and they might come out more relaxed and think itll be easy to win another one.  i also see the pistons and cavs becoming more of a threat.

    bynum aint gonna change squat.

  6. Because I'm a Laker fan is the best reason why the Celtics won't repeat.

  7. POSEY. Lol that may help other teams a bit but coming into the season the Celtics are the favorites again to win. Other teams, however, could make a good run like the Rocket and Hornets who are like the Celtics aas defensive teams with offensive efficiency. Or the Lakers with Offensive efficiency and defensive prowess if they can learn to work as more of a team defensively.

  8. thy lost james posey..posey was a large part of der team..he could defend and shoot 3 pointers

also thy gott a year older

last year..thy needed to win a championship thy had a sense of urgency this year tht is gone

p.s. thy got tougher competion now in the east (raptors,76ers, heat)

  9. I think it will be heard only time will tell if Pierce's foot healed from pounding kobe's rear so hard!

  10. They did lose some bench power but if the celtics want to be really good, rondo needs to learn how to shoot.

I think the Rockets will matchup agianst them, its going to be pretty close.

  11. If the Lakers stay healthy!!!!

  12. What up Corey,

First i agree with you that the Celtics should be the favorites coming into the season- because they are the defending champs.

But here are some reasons why they may not repeat.  i realize for every argument- you can make a "counter-argument" but i'm just bringing up questions that the Celtics play will have to answer.

    (1)  The hunger may not be there.  K.G., Pierce, and Ray Allen were all seeking that one thing that eluded them their entire career- a NBA Championship- now that they have it- the question is will they be hungry for more???

    (2)  Losing James Posey who really was the best player coming off the bench may hurt them.  He was an important defender and in a 7 game series- ie:  against LeBron, Gilbert Arenas, etc. Posey may matter.

    (3)  The East got tougher with Philadelphia, Detroit (still in tact for possibly one more run), and Washington.

    (4)  As you said they went through last season injury-free with 3 aging veterans.  So an injury could deprive them of homecourt which was essential to their championship run.

If we were to break down every team- the Celtics should be the team favored to win. But we all know what happens on paper doesn't always play out.  i have them as the favorites- but there are a lot of legit teams and i'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

  13. Because each of the 3 superstars can never get the shots they want, enough points or added attention to their name, They all got what they wanted and deserved which is a ring. I don't see them repeating because the LAKERS are going to take it next year.

  14. I think it's obvious they're gonna make it to the finals. We haven't seen a lot of new looking teams play yet, but assuming there's no huge, unexpected improvement to a team in the east, Boston will be in the finals. I think there are 2 teams that can beat the Celtics. Houston, there defense will be just as good if not better than Boston's, and there offense will be better with T-Mac, Yao, and Artest. This is assuming the addition of Ron Artest works. Hornets, they have great defense that can compete with Boston's, and there offense is excellent, with CP3 running it and Posey provides much needed depth.

  16. kevin garnett wanted to win a championship soooo bad ,now he has one (everyone has to lose just a little bit of motivation) posey is gone ,they are OLDer,more prone to injury, swollen heads....I FEEL THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP TEAMS LIKE THIS MOTIVATED IS A "WINNER TAKE ALL POT OF MONEY FOR THE CHAMPS" YOU LOSE......YOU DONT GET PAID

  17. Rising competition. Teams right now are stacking up, which will make the road to the playoffs more tiring for the Celtics. Celtics haven't improved that much, but almost all of the other teams are. Houston has Artest, Lakers reorder their lineup with Bynum, Hornets improve their bench, Heat get Wade and possibly Marion back, Magic having more experience, etc.

  18. Raptors 76ers  wizards and The the West is getting more tougher

  19. Didn't you see how me and the Lost Boys destroyed the Celtics by 24 points?

  20. naw I htink that was a one hit wonder, 15 min of fame,, a fluke if you will, kinda like the heat,, they wont go back but of course the lakers will they always make it

  21. Well they were facing the Lakers that year. To me, it didn't really look like everyone was ready at that season's NBA Finals.

  22. Hornets

    Rockets

    Maybe L.A.
