My wife and I are having child care woes! We have researched www.in.gov/carefinder (The State government supplied listing of care providers that gives details from complaints and inspection reports to hours of operation, accreditations, and licensing status). We plan to physically visit those centers that appear credible.

Our problem is that my wife works as a nurse: 6:30am-7pm (leaves at 5:30am and returns at 7:40pm). I am recently graduated and have to find employment that will allow me to get our daughter to and from child care ... that or take a salaried/ hourly job working overnight (wife hates 3rds). We are limiting our places to those with frequent "No Noncompliance" reports and hours to at least 6pm.

We really only need care 3 or 4 days a week but prices we have been quoted thus far are crazy! We have a list of questions to ask and things to look out for, but would like to hear your recommendations.

Also is home day care better than facility care in your opinion?

  1. poetic_murk, I've got a daughter at a Virginia child care center. I couldn't be more pleased, but I looked around and visited a lot of centers to make sure I was satisfied with the center and staff. I vistited many Virginia centers I was able to inquire about thier programs. Try visiting local Indiana child care centers and see if they can help. http://www.localchildcarecenters.com/Ind...
