  1. I found two sites for you.

    Hope this helps.

  2. To decide what to do next, after completing the North Africa campaign.  US General Marshall was all for mounting the cross channel attacks in 1943.  The British opposed the idea, fearful that the Anglo-Americans were not yet strong enough, and of the baneful effect if they were repelled (to say nothing of Churchill's obsession with the Mediterranean).

The British showed up with an entire ship crammed full of staff officers with charts, graphs and plans, illustrating why the next move ought to be....Sicily.  This was the worst possible choice, which the British later privately admitted.  From Sicily, the only place you can go is onto the toe of the boot - maybe the ankle.  If it was necessary to seize a Mediterranean island, the correct choice would have been Sardinia or Corsica.  From either of those, you could attack southern France, or Italy NORTH of Rome.

The British prevailed in the end of course, though Marshall did secure their promise that the cross channel attack would come in 1944.
