  1. Chaos theory specifically refers to the Second law of Thermodynamics. It says that everything overtime tends to go towards Chaos which is a lower energy state than order. It, therefore points to the 'direction of time'. That is why a broken glass can't itself get into its previous shape, because it can't go from a lower to a higher energy state.

  2. you are probably asking the relation between 2nd law of thermodynamics and chaos in the system. 'Chaos theory' is something else. That talks about 2 seemingly identical systems - over a period of time - turns into 2 different behavior, because of the difference (however slightest it is) in the initial conditions. Pauli's exclusion principle probably.

Now chaos is the disorder in the system. An ordered system is less stable than a system in disorder. An ordered system must at least have the energy which keeps it in order. So it always tries to expel this energy in the form of work. Second law of thermodynamics controls this. If you keep hot objects close to each other, even though both the objects have their own agendas of removing the maximum amount of heat possible, second law of thermodynamics prevents the colder object to pass heat to the hotter object.
