The first test I think would be...will it hurt you to touch it?  Anything that will be harmful on the skin, can't possibly be good anywhere else.

Try using baking soda as a scrub for everything.  Bathtubs, faucets, counter tops, stove tops, teeth, anything that needs a good scrubbing.
