  1. Try this experiment:  Call a friend and tell him/her to meet you at the local sports arena.  Tell him that you  are going to be there, somewhere and you are going to flash your flashlight for one second.  If he sees the light, let you know and you will give him a thousand dollars.  The catch?  Don't tell him when you will be there, or where in the stadium you will be, or in which direction you will shine the light.

Is there a point?  Yep, here it is.  Humans have been exploring space for about 50 years.  That is less than one second compared to the total of human history.  It is possible that there is someone, somewhere, looking in some direction, for a sign from someone else, somewhere else, sending signals in another direction.

The chance of the two hooking up are so infinitesimally small as to be essentially zero. In fact, the chance of you with your flashlight and your friend on the lookout seeing your light are multitudinously greater.

Here is another one.  Have a friend go to beach, somewhere, to paint a single grain of sand pink.  You go to a beach somewhere and paint a single grain of sand blue.  Consider the chances of those two grains of sand, someday, colliding.

Remember this.  There are more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on all the beaches of the world.

It's possible, but (almost) infinitely unlikely.

Conclusion:  We have not been visited by creatures from outer space, we will never find intelligent life in outer space, there will never be commnunication between us and other beings.

But then, who knows, I'm just a cynic.

  2. There is no such evidence to look at.  The psuedo science claims of people like von Daniken have been debunked (and he has even admitted to making up much of it).

There are possible examples of astronomical events that have been witnessed by humans of the past that have been incorporated in artwork (sorry I can't give you a reference at the moment) but nothing that suggestions our origins came from space.  If you learn about the fossil record, you will see how our ancestors slowly evolved over millions of years from an early bipedal ape through many stages into our modern form - all without intervention from space.

  3. 36000 to 40000 years ago...

Will tell you a thing about the historians, about 10% to 15% of all historical or man-made unearthed artifacts are in possession of museums in the world, the rest is in private collections around the world! So who do you think can claim to know everything about human history.

I don't claim we come from space, or have been engineered, but I do believes that we are still far from knowing the truth about ourselves.

  4. Bleh.  If you REALLY want to go there, you should read Von Danniken.  He's the one who started this whole UFO thing.  But he's full of c**p.  Really.

I'm firmly convinced that there is life out there somewhere.  We're just not that special.  But I also don't believe that they're watching our every move and sticking rods up rednecks' butts.  We're REALLY not that special.

If anyone is out there, they're probably living their own lives just like we are.  They're also likely WAY too far away for us to ever find.
