Can anyone give me advice on a tour on Great Ocean Road?

I am planning a tour for a group of people about 6-8 (4days), I want to know which attractions we must visit?

Any transportation between each town to others? How about the price?

The most importantly is the accomdation. Because all of us are students only and don't know too much money on the tour, can anyone advice some cheap accomdation?

Thank you very much!

  1. Accommodation won't be cheap or accessible right now since it is Easter and busy down here due to school holidays and world surfing championships.

Depending on what interests you, go see these things:

Anglesea golf course. There are always lots of kangaroos there.

Erskine Falls on the Erskine river near lorne

Otway Fly suspended tree-top walk near Lavers Hill

Mait's rest at Cape Otway.  And see the Cape Otway light house.

12 Apostles - this is a must see.

Surf museum and surf shops in Torquay.

Stop in at Apollo Bay and Lorne along the way.

Transportation options are bus or rent a car.

Take you time, stop and walk around, see the sights and enjoy it.  Allow yourself 2 or 3 days at least.

  2. Transport:  If you can't hire a mini-bus or have 2 cars and are relying on public transport there is a Vline train (Southern Cross Station to Geelong) then you need to hook up with Otway buses which service the Great Ocean Road (google otway buses for timetables etc).  There are some backpackers hostels down there (google great ocean road backpackers).  I would recommend you stay in Lorne maybe for 2 nights and then Apollo Bay or Port Campbell for 2 nights.

Hope this helps -  it is a beautiful part of the world.
