  1. i have a 15 hand quarter horse and he is a wide/medium tree, but the problem is, he has HUGE and very long whithers.  if you are having trouble fitting a saddle at a local tack shop, (which i did lol) 1st check for maybe swayback like in some old horses, or odd whithers haha.  if you still cant find a saddle, try a fitter, which a did. where do you llive? i have one in lower NY if ur near here lol

  2. At a guess, I would go with a med/wide tree. There really are not many horses that take a narrow tree. The reason for this, is you are not just fitting to the wither but you must allow enough room for the shoulders. Too many people just try to clear the wither, forgetting that the poor old shoulder will get badly pinched. If he is high withered, then go for some thing with a cut back head ( be careful not to compromise on seat room for you though), or the other way, is plenty of flock (stuffing ) to lift the saddle clear of the wither.

  3. He should take a WIDE tree!  Do you know how to measure yourself for the saddle?  IF not take a measuring tape and start at your knee then go all the way to your hip and that's your seat size.

  4. A "perfect fit" saddle is worth the expense of hiring an expert saddle fitter. Most saddle fitters have a limited service area or region and will come to your barn at established fees but since there are not many expert fitters here in the states who can, like an expert tailor, custom fit individual horse and rider with a perfect fit saddle many will also travel long distance at your expense.
