Can anyone give me any tips for catching shiny pokemon?

Whenever my pokemon chain gets further than 9 it stops and it gets annoying can anyone help with this too please?

Okay right now I'm chaining pokemon and what you do is first choose a patch of grass and check if it glowed/shook or not and always go for the 4th one away/4 steps away from you but make sure it shook /if it glowed too the same way as the first one.

There are alot of video on youtube.com that can help you chain pokemon.Just type in chaining pokemon.

Don't start a chain untill you find a fairly shiny patch. Don't walk onto the patch of grass directly above you. Only go onto patches that are exactly the same shinyness as the first one of the chain. If your first patch of the chain is 3 squares away, only go to patches that are 3 squares away. Don't chain on patches that are 1 or 2 squares away from you. When you lose your concentration, take a break while in the middle of a battle. Don't turn off your DS. Don't walk on the pieces of grass that are on the edge of anything. Don't chain on patches that are next to an object (tree)
