We have a competition, where we have to set a poem to tune. I'm looking for a funny, lively poem of medium length, with some kind of message. For example, satirical poems. Also, the poem should be able to be put to tune. Thanks a lot!

  1. We are the off-spring of the well-known group labled the "Baby-Boomers"

Whose music included  Chicago's "Colour My World" and Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours"

Some of our parents might like to pretend for our sake they never were wild

But, make no mistake, they lived in the 70's - the decade of the Love Child

So we say to them "Rock On" and join us on the dance  floor

And we'll see just who is "cooler" and can "get down" a bit more

(Refrain:) Oh Rock On Baby Boomers

Oh Get Down Young Brothers and Sisters

                     Soon we will see ...eeee...

Diggit - with the Disco Lights twirling and the DJ's dvds spinning

The dance floor was on fire -- it was tough to see who was winning

While the young brothers and sisters performed the Hip Hop and the Crump

The Baby Boomers twisted, did the Jerk, the Hustle, and the Grind and the Bump

(Refrain:) Oh Rock On Baby Boomers

Oh Get Down Young Brothers and Sisters

Soon we will see ... eeee....

All of a sudden all the dancers could sense a revelation

Whether you were Young or Old, it didn't matter which generation

Everyone was having a blast, TOGETHER, creating quite a sensation !

(Refrain:) Oh Rock On Baby Boomers

Oh Get Down Young Brothers and Sisters

Soon we will see ... eeee ...

  2. My cat's name is Bod,

    He's really very fat.

    His stomach's on the floor,

And he can't get through his flap.

He eats and eats and eats,

He just never seems to stop.

And when we fill his bowl

Not one morsel does he drop!

    His fur is very black

With white bits on his face.

But he spends most the time

Curled up in his favourite place

    He never runs around,

Or sneak or pounce or jump.

My big fat cat called Bod

    Really is a lazy lump

  3. I would suggest checking out something by Edward Lear.  He wrote light, comic verse with a singsong rhythm that should lend itself easily to song-making.
