Can anyone give me info on Nottingham? Where can I dine and socialize safely in Nottingham?

I'd also recommend Hart's or World Service for high quality dining, or Tonic, Saltwater or Loch Fyne for medium priced dining. There are lots and lots of good restaurants here - take your pick.

You can dine and socialize in a huge array of bars, restaurants, pubs and clubs (including a range of waterside bars near the canal and a huge choice of places a short walk from the town square). As for doing it safely, what makes you think it will be unsafe? It's just the same as any other city in Britain.

There are some residential areas on the outskirts of Nottingham which are rough (The meadows, Hyson Green and St Anns), and these are the places giving the city it's bad name. But Nottingham City itself is nothing like these areas, and you'd have to travel a fair while out of the city in order to get to them - you can't just wander in by mistake!

Depends what you're into/what time of day it is.

The top restaurants in Nottingham, are Harts, World Service and Merchants.

Some nice, reasonably priced restaurants are Zizzi's, Petit Paris and Opium.

Socialising; there's hundereds of bars, it really depends on your age and interests.

For nice, but expensive bar, try Sinatras.

For nice, fairly expensive, try Fat Cats or Saltwater.

For cheap and cheerful, try Revolution, (old one on the lace market, and new one by the cinema) or the Roebuck on St James Street.

For alternative bars, try SpeakEasy/Horn in Hand/Rescue Rooms/Rock City/Stealth.

For the touristy bars, go to Trip to Jeruselum, The Bell, or the Saluation; 3 of the oldest pubs in the country.
