I know they are the only mammal that flies and most of the basic stuff, but if they are primarily blind, then how do they find there way back to their sleeping place, I understand the sonar helps them find food and keep from flying into one another, but how can they find their way in and out of their "cave"

I love these little creatures, i live in Missouri, and my family and I go out to our deck everynight about 8:45 pm to watch the arival of the many bats that hang around our house

  1. Well for one thing, bats are not blind.  In fact they have excellent vision.

  2. You belong in the organization Bat Conservation International, in Texas I think. They have all kinds of good stuff, books, bat houses, t-shirts, etc. Look on the Web.

  3. Bats are not primarily blind..they see quite well actually.  Not all bats sleep in caves..some roost in trees, others in man-made structures such as barns, attics in houses and freeway bridges, etc.  Check out his website for bat info, and also check out my 360 blog on bats.
