  1. In the 1905 Wisconsin state census (which is different than the US Census) there is a Mattie Pollitz living in Russell, right on the state line with Illinois in Kenosha Co. She was living with a Swedish family named Carlson and was born in Wisconsin. Her parents were both German and she was only 14 years old.

In the 1910 federal census, Frank and Cornelia Pollotz were living in Eau Claire with their children Ida, Hattie, Frida, Emma and Ruth. Frank came to the US in 1882 and Cornelia came in 1884. They had been married to each other for 31 years. Doing the math, that means they were married in Germany and he came over first. All of the kids listed were born in Wisconsin.

In the 1920 Census there's another family, this of Adam and Ernestina Pollitz/Pollotz. They were both born in German parts of Poland (the land formerly known as Prussia). They had 5 kids: Emma, Herman, Frederick, Edward and Walter.

There aren't any in Burlington proper on any of the censuses, but they are in the Racine area. If you want me to look a little more, I'd need some first names to work with so I know which family is yours.
