  1. 1 reason = big family

    ===

By the way, my Audi A4 is a AWD.  It gets 33 MPG on the hwy and 23 MPG combined (tested / not just an estimate).  That is better than many 2wd cars.  So it isn't just about 2 or 4 wheel drive cars.

    Good Luck...

P.S.  I also own 94 Civic that gets 41 MPG on the hwy.  Not bad...

  2. If you want any respect out on the trail, respect our rights to go on the trail with our dune buggies, 4WD and motorcycles. There is much animosity between the groups, and having a holier than tho attitude puts gas on the fire. If you want to live in a socialist state you should move to one

You should thank me, I have no kids. Every child grows up to be a consumer, every consumer uses energy and produces pollution of all kinds. So if your really green, get yourself spayed and neutered

  3. A big family is not a good reason to buy a large SUV.

It is a good reason NOT to buy a SUV.

People buy SUVs because they think they're cool. They like to be up high, and get a good view of the road. They like the macho of driving a big truck. They like the feeling of security of driving something big, thinking it's safer.

A SUV is not safer than the alternative. Get a minivan. Yes, I know they're not cool, but they are much safer. They don't roll over, they get better mileage, they handle better. They were made as passenger vehicles from the start, and are not just large passenger cabins dropped onto truck chassis'.

The Honda Odyssey or a Toyota Sienna are a much better vehicles for hauling your family than any SUV.

    People who drive SUVs

...such idiots. They really put their families at risk.

[ But then again, look at what it does to the gene pool! ]

  4. Because we can.  We, as humans, will continue to do as we please until someone decides that it is unethical or immediately dangerous to ourselves.

  5. i think u are right about selling them now. However this "green" stuff didn't come about until recently. What if they had bought one 5 years ago.... Should they have to get a new one. I agree any gas guzlin cars should be not sold anmore.

But if you really want to help the environment. Go vegeterian. It saves food from being fed to animals and use to feed the poor, saves gases that pollute the air from facory farms, its one of the biggest things to do for the environment ( way more effective then driving a "green" car.

  6. very good question. i really can't answer however because i wonder this myself. if smaller cars that are better for the environment are available, why do people chose the big, junky, earth killing ones? my guess would be because some people honestly don't care. sad though but i guess it's up to them. this just shows how each action can make or break our planet.

    :)

  7. Because it isn't your place to tell someone else what they can or can't drive. If someone wants to pay more in gas to drive an SUV, then what do you care? There are legitimate reasons for owning and driving a large vehicle. They all aren't just driven by soccer moms with a cell phone in one ear and 4 kids screaming in the other. People who use their vehicles for business or for towing or hauling can't use a Prius to do it with.

  8. Everyones getting fatter so better suspension is needed, and you only get this with bigger cars.

  9. I drive a gas-guzzling muscle car. For some people, it's a passion or a hobby.

I understand your concern for the environment, but those with an appreciation for American muscle shouldn't be punished. We're the ones paying so much for gas; that tax to which we contribute keeps your roads in good driving condition. :)

  10. Because it's about time we show that ozone layer what's what.

  11. Well were allowed big SUV's cause it's a free country and automakers have decided that's what consumers want. Also, all petroleum based cars pollute not just big ones. Hybrids & Electric vehicles are going to be the future and some have no pollution what so ever.

  12. If you drive on dirt roads all seasons (kinda hard to do that with a rwd or fwd).

    And perhaps for military purposes.

If you need room - get a wagon.

    So not really.

  13. Here is one good reason. I happen to be well over six feet tall. Driving a small car is not an option for me, since I can't fit in them.

Driving with my knees jammed against the steering wheel would prevent me from having full control. Moving my foot from the gas pedal to the brake would take a lot of time, since my leg would be wedged against the dashboard. Having my head pressed against the roof would cut down on visibility.

Rather dangerous and awkward situations, don't you think?

  14. kids to haul around. and it's a free country. why should anyone be able to tell you what you can and cannot drive. dont you think we've had enough of our rights taken away already?

  15. I don't know about other countries; but, Americans are free to buy any car they want.

Congress, the President of the United States, and the Supreme Court are in a position to legislate the car you are allowed to buy. I don't believe the American people want our government legislating what cars Americans can buy.

  16. Some people have large families or live with extended families. I have a neighbor with four kids and her mother in law living with her. A large car makes more sense than two cars for 7 people. She uses the back seat in the suv that folds up where the trunk goes

  17. there as NO REASON as to why they should be allowed to drive these big cars and pollute our earth... and hey bud I am a big "greenie" as well....

these people are just selfish ignorant people who dont give a d**n and dont realize how serious the issue is
