  3. In comparing first edition to second their are some differences. Deleted from the DND world with the implementation of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition were the following. Tiamat, "The dragon ruler of the nine-h***s and the mother of all evil dragons." The following is another quote from the same page, page 32 of the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 1st Edition Monster Manual "Tiamat's heads are white, black green blue and red. Her breath weapons correspond to the color of each head" Another quote, "These colors run the length of each neck and into the forepart of the body as stripes, gradually blending to three stripes of gray, blue green, and purple over her back and hind quarters, and merging into a muddy dark brown tail. Her underbelly and legs are greenish white fading into her upper body colors."  Also deleted: Bahamut "The king of good dragons, Bahamut the Platinum dragon dwells in a great fortified palace behind the east wind. (No one knows for certain if this place is on the elemental plane of air or some plane betwixt it and the Seven Heavens or Tri-Paradises save Bahamut and his court.)" According to Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition Monstrous Manual Pg 61 - 91 the dragon types are as follows:

Dracolich (undead mage/dragon) The following types are chromatic dragons as is Tiamat. Black Dragon, Blue Dragon, Green Dragon, Red Dragon, White Dragon. The following are gem dragons: Amethyst Dragon, Crystal Dragon, Emerald Dragon, Sapphire Dragon, Topaz Dragon, The following are metallic dragons as is Bahamut who is the only Platinum Dragon. Brass Dragon, Bronze Dragon, Copper Dragon, Gold Dragon, Silver Dragon, Educated guess, the following would be a chromatic dragon though it is not mentioned in AD&D 1st edition and nothing I am aware of makes this clear-cut. Brown Dragon. Several other dragon type that are not described as chromatic, gem, or metallic are Cloud Dragon, Deep Dragon, Mercury Dragon, Mist Dragon, Shadow Dragon, Steel Dragon, Yellow Dragon, Dragon Turtle, Faerie Dragon (Dragonet), Firedrake Dragon (Dragonet), and Pseudodragon(Dragonet).

You would never guess I am a DND fan, would you? LOL.
