Can anyone give me reasons why people are careless about the environmental issues of today?

People have to be completely stupid if they pay no attention to the global climate change that is occurring. I live in Fort Howard, Maryland, and yesterday it was about 90 degrees. I'm very concerned about this because its only April and we're experiencing summer weather.

This catastrophe is leading to melting ice caps, rising ocean levels, abnormal natural behavior of wild life ect. The sad part about this is, its only the beginning. This will eventually lead to mass extinction, war(because of the displaced people that live on coasts), and eventually the demise of the human race.

Anyone who says this isn't real must literally be retarded. I hear of all these conservatives on television speaking of "a period of warmth." The only reasons they say that is because conservatives are content with how their doing. They own businesses (such a power and energy company's), so why would they want to change that? I'm tired of this egocentric attitude in the world. We need a change.

People are careless about the enviromental issues today because they think someone else will take care of it, but if everyone thinks that...we'd die including the plants and animals. I feel bad for the polar bears, they are pretty much dying because of the ice are melting and us people shouldn't interfere with the wildlife, if anyone is interested in animals...check out "Planet Earth"...its pretty cool...especially the pitcher plant.

People are addicted to convenience. Some of them have money/power/influence. My brother is a republican legislator for a certain state in the midwest. He was just ranting in my direction the other day about "Global warming, my a$s! Sure, just like when I was a kid & everyone was all 'oh the ice age is coming' and that never happened. I want to see some evidence before I give up MY suv & force my kids to live in a cave! This winter has been as cold as any other! It's April & we just had a frickin' snowstorm for cripe's sake!" The conservatives fear anything that could disrupt their money.

We ALL share the responsibility in changing this problem. Start with yourself. Reach out to your friends, family, people you know. Take action. Speak out. We ALL share this burden. No one is exempt. Including me and you.

I agree! People are so ignorant! We have proved that Global Warming is happening, except the conservative republicans of the world will not trade there hummers and SUVs for better cars with better gas mileage. We all need to watch an inconvient truth that really opened my eyes. Plus it has the president that should have won! Then our world would be a much better place!

I completely agree with you. I mean we hear that this strange weather patterns are just part of the cycle....what cycle???? And the people who dont care about this and think global warming isnt real are simply stupid and lazy. I really dont see why people are saying this because when you really think about it, war, mass extinction, and things like this are really forever and cannot be reversable so why cant people just take precautions before something happens which we might regret.

Global Warming is bogus.  Read your history book, about 30 years ago everyone said we were going to go through an Ice Age..about 8 years ago everyone was scared of Y2K... Its another load of bull c**p.
