  1. My father is from Monaghan (the town) and Ive always noticed that the accent always has a slight Northrern Irish twang to it. Go rent "In the name of the Father" Daniel Day lewis and Peter Postlewhaite (sp) and try to mimic them or watch the BBC Northern Ireland news or Ulster Television news (UTV) and that will give you a great start. For some reason they say "ach" a lot
