If you are England August is peak time. Here in Scotland our schools go back around mid Aug and we often get a price drop in lots of flights and then they rise again beg Sept. Try a site that compares prices like Money Supermarket Trave.

The brutal answer is the fact that this is HIGH season and prices WOULD have cheaper 3/4 months ago.Not much help i know but supply and demand apply.If you have 3 days either side of your holiday you could drive there!
