  1. Blokker is not really a classy store, it's got cheap things like candy and ugly shirts as well as baby carriages.

Blokker ruimt op... hah Blokker ruimt altijd op :S

    here's a link:

    http://www.blokker.nl/

  2. There is a page about the history of Blokker on their homepage, but of course it is in Dutch.  Save me translating you can use this link (via Google translate).  It’s never a perfect word translation, but in this case fine for you to understand http://translate.google.com/translate?u=...

There are several branches in Emmen, here are the addresses and opening times

    (1) NOORDERSTRAAT 29, 7811 AK, tel: 0591-659356

    (2) PICASSOPASSAGE 10 (DE WEIERT), 7811 DP, tel: 0591-377100

    (3) STATENWEG 15(ANGELSLO UNIT 24), 7824 CR, tel: 0591-627985

Stores 1 & 3 both have toy sections.  The opening times are the same for all of them as follows:

    Mondays 13.00-18.00,

    Tues/Wed/Fri 09.00-18.00,

    Thur 09-00-21.00

    Sat 09.00-17.00.

    Closed on Sundays

I have no clue about the manager of any of these branches or their family (and btw personal info is not permitted to be posted anyway under the Y!A TOS)

As mentioned Blokker is a common store through here in the Netherlands with many towns/cities having several branches.  It’s true that it is not “classy” in terms of designer or high-chic, but I never saw candy, shirts or baby carriages in any of the branches in my area!  Basically it is a store which sells a range of products – mainly functional for the house.  Who needs a designer mop & bucket anyway!

It usually has a section of decorational products, e.g. small lamps, candles, sofa cushions etc.  Then there is a section of kids toys, dvd’s etc, in the larger stores.  It also sells kitchen products such as cleaning products, mops, buckets, washing lines, saucepans, cutlery, plates, cups etc etc.  Then it normally has a section also for simple electrical products such as hair appliances, shavers etc.

The range of products does vary from branch to branch, depending on the size of the store, but fundamentally it is the same.

Price wise it is basically just average – good value prices.  It’s not a store that you spend ages browsing in, just go in, get what you need and out again!.

.... at least that is the Blokker I know from living here and doing shopping weekly

  3. The store's called Blokker, because the founder was named Jacob Blokker. I believe it was founded over a 100 years ago. Blokker is a whole chain of stores, including franchise stores.

I don't know anything else about the store in Emmen, simply because I don't live there. I live in Florida, and I've only been to Hoorn, Noord-Holland (the province) and the nearby village called Blokker. I believe that's where the founder is from.

    I'm not sure though!
