Can anyone give me some information about the genetic engineering?

the basic concept is that you take a gene from one organism and put it into another. This is usually done using bacteria. Some bacteria have special devices to cut up the DNA of viruses. This can be used to get the bacteria to cut a portion of the DNA to get a specific gene that will give the desired trait. Then, once you have the gene, you can put it in with the organism during a certain stage of development (this is fairly easy if you are engineering a bacteria as bacteria are constantly multiplying and will naturally absorb the DNA), which can be fairly complex and hard to do.

Genetic engineering is particularly useful with agriculture because you can make veggies more durable and easier to ship by adding, say the gene in salmon that makes the skin rough. It's rather creepy though if you think about it. We could possibly do some sort of genetic engineering involving people, but I'm not really sure that it would be ethical.
