Can anyone give me some tips on hip-hop?

I utterly fail at hip-hop. I am not kidding. I also really dislike it, so that doesn't help.

The big issue is, I got moved up at my studio. This is mainly good, but it also means that I compete in hip-hop. And it's like hardcore, really good hip-hop, and I suck at hip-hop so bad that it's not even funny. I'm more of a ballerina/classical jazz kind of girl.

The steps just don't make sense to me. When the choreographer does it slow, I'm fine, but as soon as she speeds up I'm standing there going WHAT THE ****ING h**l??? no matter how many times she breaks it down.

Tips please? :)

  1. Hey Chill. Yes That Remind's Me Of When I Was Younger, I Used To Fail Majorly. But If You Forget or Have No Idea.. Just Make Sure You Bop Around Or Just make Sure You Look Confident & Strong. Like A HipHop Dancer! Or Maybe After Your Dance Class Ask Your Teacher If They Could Go Over The Dance With You Or Ask If She Could Give You Some Tip's Or Just Any Help You Need. Hopefully She Will Be Willing To Help You!

& Just Have Heep's Of Fun! =] Smile, Or If Its Hard Out, Strong Angry Faces! Go For It.. (make it BIG) One Thing I Lacked. =]

  2. Hahah, this reminds me of  "Save the last dance"

  3. sure..

    you have to RELAX!

enjoy yourself. and whatever you do DONT TRY TO HARD!

trust me. it looks like your being an idiot so just go with the flow and the best thing about hip hop is evry1 doesnt have to look the same so stress less and just go with it.

another idea is to go into a room by yourself and turn the music up loud and just do your thing. the more you do it the better and more relaxed you will become.

and dont be afraid to ask her again what the step was and to go through it slowly. if they moved u up then u must be good :D
