  1. There's also multiple toms, a floor tom, ride cymbal, crash cymbal, and whatever else you decide to stick on.

  2. There are several drums, cymbals, and add-on percussion instruments for drumsets. A basic "kit" consists of rack toms, a floor tom, crash cymbals (all types of cymbals come in different diameters and thicknesses, as well as compositions of metals used to construct and holes and/or rivets), and a ride cymbal (heavier cymbals used to "keep time"). Other typical additions include: Splash Cymbals (smaller crash cymbals with less sustain, and usually more punch), China cymbals, gongs, timbales, congas, "remote" hats (a hi-hat held with reverse controls, so that with your foot off the pedal it is closed), tambourines, xylophones, wind chimes, crotales (pitched metal disc played like the xylophone) and electric drum pieces (which are used to create sounds not existing on the kit accoustically). If you are looking into getting a set, I would suggest a basic, "5 piece", which is a snare drum, two rack toms, a floor tom, and a bass drum. cymbals and hardware (pedals, stands, throne, etc.) will be sold seperately.
