  1. The main negatives are the Bose cube speakers, it's an all in one, and the outrageous price. Those cubes have a small sound stage and the bass module produces unnatural sound. You'll find if you setup Bose cubes and walk around the room, there's a small area where they sound good. The rest of the room will drop off. The system is an all in one so if one part goes, you have to send it all out for repair.

For $3,500+, I would look to a component system. By a good receiver (Denon or Yamaha would be my suggestions) then shop around for a good set of speakers (I like Klipsch, Def Tech, Boston Acoustics and Polk but you really have to try them out for yourself). You can then get an inexpensive DVD and an ipod to do everything else the Bose system does.

You'll end up spending around the same $ and get a much better system.

  2. 2 points!!!!!!!

  3. I actually don't recommend ANY Bose home theater. They are overpriced and severely lacking in the range required for good Home Theater Sound. Also having a standard DVD in the center of your system is not going to be good enough long term, you are going to want a Blu Ray before too long and that will mean adding another component to your system. Home Theaters in a box tend to be lacking in external inputs and Bose is no exception. Considering the lifestyle 48 will run you 3000-3500 dollars most Best Buys could build you a system that would smoke the Bose in ability and performance for less money. If you just gotta have Bose for the name then there is no amount of advice that anyone can offer you, honestly. But if what you are looking for is a good Home Theater sound system then you owe it to yourself to think outside the Home Theater in a box. Please hit the link below for a pretty balanced look at Bose. It's not a hate site (there are plenty of those) but a pretty square look at why you might want to consider looking at other options for your Home Theater.
