Can anyone help? I've never been unemployed before...?

I live in Illinois. The company I work for just told us we will have 3 weeks off in July due to the economy. They said I have to use 3 vacation days in order to keep my benefits while I am off. My questions is, will this make me ineligible for unemployment insurance and will the week of the 4th still count as my waiting week if they are going to pay us for the 4th of July anyway?

It is also best to start shopping around for individual health insurance if you are losing a group plan. Something that will be permanent until new work with benefits is found.

Contact the Illinois Dept of Employment Security

and ask if this layoff will qualify for unemployment benefits.

You could apply at a temporary agency and obtain work for those 3 weeks.
