Help Please I just ordered a manual for my viking sewing machine 6430, it showes nothing about the directive stitchs. Or the things (cams) that s***w on the back of machine. I haven't had a whole lot of luck purchering things on line, so a free site would be perfered. TKS Annmarie

  1. One of the really cool things about the 6000 series of Viking sewing machines is their color-coding system.

First install a cam in the holder located on the back of the machine.  It doesn't s***w in!  Notice that there are 3 little pins on the base of the cam.  These pins go into little holes on the "fixed-camset" which is permanently installed in your machine.  This "fixed--camset" gives you the built-in stitches (zig-zag, triple zig-zag, etc.)  Now, on the front of your machine you will find a bar which has 4 colors in bands labeled A, B, C, etc.  The letters identify the cam, and the patterns within the color bands identify the stitch.  Here comes the really cool thing:  To make any of these stitches, all you have to do is turn the k***s to the same color as the color band.  (The stretch-overcast stitch, for instance, is A, blue, blue, blue)  This sets your stitch selection, the length, and the width.  Easy, huh

  2. Have you tried your local Viking dealer, or Viking Customer Service?

I believe that machine came with both an "operator's manual" and a "sewing manual".
