  1. Might be helpful to know if this has all of a sudden happened or if you mean it was always that way.

As to the toilet flushing, they always do that, but does the cistern fill and will it flush again?

EDIT: If this has just happened without you doing anything, I suggest you have to get a plumber - it could be a blocked pipe or a leak, but I would think you would notice a leak and it would have to be a very big one. Sorry not to have an answer but if the water is still running upstairs it's all a bit strange. Good luck.

  2. New house? Is it only one sink? What about the toilet? What?Details Details Details

  3. sounds like an air lock,if u have an outside tap attact a hose pipe to it securly at one end and the other end to the tap thats not working, make sure it is secure, use gaffer tape or something, have someone turn the outside tap on fully as u turn on the other tap,the pressure of this should force the air lock up and out into the tank in the loft.let this run for a few mins but be carefull that the tank in the loft doesnt overflow

    good luck

  4. You didnt turn on the facet for cold water. Usually somewhere under the sink. Browse around the bathroom

  5. Someone has turned your water off. Have you paid your bill?

You will get cold water from the tank in the loft for a while which also supplies your hot water cylinder. If you haven't inadvertently turned off the rising main (usually under the sink) either this tap is faulty, someone has turned it off in the pavement outside your house or you are suffering a water supply cut. Enquire of the water supply company.

  6. Probably vapor-lock from air geting into the system. Try bleeding off any air at the hot water tank, baseboard heaters, etc.
