Can anyone help me ,i have just got a and van it is getting hot on the temp gauge,head gasket has not gone

water pump is not circulating coolant that means the pump is bad or the radiator is clogged.open the drain on the rad, or take off the upper hose and flush it with a garden hose.

Start at the beginning... is the engine getting as hot as the guage imply's, faulty gauge?... remove rad. cap (slowly) when warm, rev engine, is water moving across rad?...water pump ok. ...check water temp. with themometer, compare with rad cap markings..then take to garage..

yes, this could be just an air lock in the system, or the sensor sender for temp gauge could be stuffed, if its an air lock drain the system flush it through then refill with engine running and the top hose off the rad.. hope this helps... GOOD LUCK!!

it sounds like it could be radiator problems ,take off top hose and bottom hose ,put in hose pipe to bottom hose and let water come out of top hose ,Do not flush out or fill with engine running ,

You need to check the following:-

1) Coolant Level

2) Top up cap gasket.

3) Look for leaks.

4) Test thermostat.

5) Make sure there is no air locks.

One that nobody's suggested yet - check the physical condition of the radiator, look for missing or damaged fins, blocked fins, etc.

Either that or the electric fan (if fitted) isn't cutting in as required - simple to test by bridging the connectors on the radiator.

Is the electric fan kicking in when it gets hot?  Fix the thermo-switch, or wire a switch to the dash-board to control it.  I always do!
