you need to be specific, what kind of camcorder to you have? Each kind has  different solution. If you have a dvd cam then you can use this free software virtual dub to make an avi file. If you have a mini-dv or digital-8, then you need a firewire card and you use the capture software that comes with the card. If you have a hard disk cam then you use a USB cable to copy the file to your computer.
