  1. yes, it does look like the registration is an audition. why don't you just call them up and ask.

  2. You will sign up to audition for August 3rd on July 31- Aug 1. The actual audition date is the 3rd of August. If you don't sign up on July 31 - Aug 1, you won't be able to audition. Call backs is on August 9 - those who made the first audition. Kind of like, August 9 is when you go to Hollywood in So You Think You Can Dance. Break a leg!

  3. Well, it sounds like you have to register between july 21st to aug 1st. Register BEFORE tryouts. Prelims or preliminary just means before, or leading up to main event. So the preliminary tryout is is aug 3rd.

You are registering for the audition. Then you audition, they see who they like, and have you compete in the semi finals and then the finals. So there are 3 stages in this tryout AFTER you have registered.

    GOOD LUCK!

  4. because what you're auditioning for is considered an "open call", that means anyone can be considered for a part, they're trying to efficiently weed out people as fast as possibly. with the onslaught of american idol, so you think you can dance, america's got talent, everybody and their moma think they can be a star so you have a lot of extranous people at these open calls. registering from 7/31-8/1 sounds like you're just signing up to audition...you have an audition slot. then the 8/3 are the preliminary auditions; they're going to give you usually under 3 min to convince them you have enough talent to make it thru to the next round, which are the 8/9 semi finals. which still means you have to pass that round before the finals. so, to sum up, it sounds like you will be expected to audition up to three times...maybe more.
