Question:

Can anyone help me find a cruise that goes to these ports?

I am looking for a cruise that goes to Monte Carlo, Athens, and Rome for sure. Also, I want to go to Gibraltar, Santorini, and Olympia, but those are not as important as the first three.

Also, a round-trip to the same country is preferable.

If anyone can give me a list of cruises that go to these places, that would be great.

Thank you...

I hope one of these works out for you.

  2. Princess has one that goes from Venice to Rome and stops at all the stops except Gibraltar.

  3. http://www.cruiseweb.com/PRINCESS-EUROPE...

There are a couple on here that go to Athens and Rome, but not Monte Carlo.  Maybe make that a separate trip?

  4. I have done two cruises to the Mediterranean that included all of the port stops that you mentioned except Olympia.  Both cruises were 12 day cruises that left out of Barcelona Spain and returned there.  It may be difficult for you to have a cruise that includes all of the stops that you mentioned because there are generally two or three itineraries done by cruise lines in the Mediterranean; (1) the Western Med covering Spain, Portugal, the Canary Islands and Gibraltar and maybe Morocco;  (2) the Eastern Caribbean covering Villafranche/Monte Carlo, Italy, Greece and Turkey, and (3) itineraries that include Alexandria, Egypt along with Greece and maybe Italy.  Some of the ports that you want to visit are on opposite sides of the Med and cannot be combined in the same cruise.  At any rate whatever cruise you look at is going to be 12 days or more in order to cover the ports and return to the starting point.

Its been my experience that you have to choose carefully which Med itinerary you want and you may not be able to go to all of the places that you want in one cruise.  That is why we did a second cruise; to go to Morocco, Gibraltar, Portugal and the Canary Islands.

I recommend the cruise that we took first.  We did a 12 day Mediterranean cruise in October two years ago. It was a fabulous cruise. We cruised on the Royal Caribbean ship, Brilliance of the Seas. The ship is outstanding, my favorite of all of the Royal Caribbean ships.

The crowd of people on the ship was mixed, mostly folks 30's to 60's and not many kids. The time of year pretty much keeps families with kids from going.

In the first port stop of Villefranche we did the tour that went to the Medieval city of Eze and then to Monaco and the Monte Carlo casino. The Eze part was OK and so was the Monaco part, but don't pay the $10 per person to go inside the casino. Its not worth it, plus you cannot take pictures inside.

Our next stop was Florence/Pisa.  In Florence we did the walking tour of the city and then went to see the Leaning Tower of  Pisa. That was a good tour.

Our next stop was Rome.  In Rome we toured the Vatican City and Sistine Chapel and the went to the Coliseum. All of that was good but the tours take all day because the port is an hour from Rome. I do not recommend trying to do Rome on your own, you may get caught in traffic and miss the ship's departure.

Our next stop was Naples where we toured Pompeii and that as good.

We then went to  Athens where we took a tour to the Acropolis and then through the city of Athens. The Acropolis part I liked best.

Our next stop was in Kusudasi we went to the Biblical city of Ephesus and that was awing and outstanding.

Then we went to two Greek Isles. In  Santorini we went on a tour of the island and then to a winery. Then the next day we were in Mykonos and we did not do a tour , just walked around the town.

First, because of all of the historical sites to see the cruise can be very tiring. Many tours last all day and depending on the arrangement of ports stops you can be off the ship all day on consecutive days. But, if you go that far you do not want to miss the historical sights. If you decide to skips ships tours and go on your own its best to do that in Mykonos and Santorini. The other places involve a bus ride to the attractions, or a tour or taxi.

My recommendation is a Royal Caribbean cruise on the Brillance; you will love it.

  5. Check out Holland America - they have some itineraries that might suit you, although none of them are perfect -

Westerdam Mediterranean Adventure and Mediterranean Mosiac - 20 days

    Rotterdam - European Capitals - 16 Days

Princess also has a "Greek Isles and Mediterreanean" Cruise  for 12 days which might work

    Have fun!
