I am looking for a receiver for my A/V system in my living room, and I am having difficulty finding exactly what I am looking for. I want a receiver that a minimum of 3 HDMI inputs (4 would be better), and it must not be more than 5 3/4 inches high. I would also prefer for it to be black.

  1. Receivers have big transformers inside to manage power. And you need 3-5 inches above them for proper venting.

Unless you buy one of the skinny "systems" that sell for about $300, you wont fit that space requirements.

When you come to the right conclusion, look into the Onkyo TX-SR series of receivers. I believe the 505 has three HDMI connections, the 605 has four and the 705 may even have five.

But do a search. They are available in both black and silver.

  2.      Around $400 you can buy Onkyo 606, Sony 820, Yamaha 663. All these support HD sound formats with 3 HDMI inputs.
