I have a credit score of 552 and I want it to get it to 580 so I can buy a house. If I was to pay on my negative items and with in return have the creditor stated in paper that it will be removed will it increase it to my goal ?

  1. If they will agree to it, then yes. It is called pay for deletion.

Actually, if that is your only negative item on your report, it will probably get you well into the 600 range.

    Good luck!

  2. Hopefully if you pay this using a Pay to delete letter, this will be removed from your report thereby increasing your score very soon.  I would suggest you also make sure that there is no other information on your report that is pulling your score down.  You should work on these things first, while saving money for the downpayment before trying to purchase this house.

  3. Paying on your old bills will increase your credit score, but the amount it is increased depends on how many bills you have to pay off. Typically, each one will only raise your score by a couple of points.
