Can anyone help me fix up my BMX bike?

I have a fit pro that a friend gave to me. The frame is in great condition but the 2 rims are in pretty bad condition. (bent, missing spokes, spokes popping out etc.)

I see people BMXing a lot in my area and I always see that

they have a smaller chainwheel. What is the point of this and is it worth it? Can someone please explain.

What are also some decent rims to get? And what is the difference between 48H and 36H?

And what is the thing that allows you to fakie (go backwards) with out the pedals and cranks moving backwards as well? Just be moving back with out being forced to pedal backwards.

Ive been looking around on www.danscomp.com but I'm really not sure about what to buy

Money is also pretty limited, i have about $250 to spend

Links would be really appreciated =] .... Thanks

  1. The reason they buy smaller chainwheels is because it's lighter and it doesn't matter how small it is as long as the gear ratio remains the same.

I hear the Sun rims are good or Proper rims. I think the 48H is stronger and heavier but im not sure.

What allows you to fakie without pedaling is called a freewheel but everybody I know says to stay away because they're a real bother.

Danscomp is definitely the place to be.

  2. i can. ... and turn it into a flying motorbike.
