I am a single mom struggling to get on my feet. I am starting school next week and have no transportation. I am in need of a car. If you know of anyone in the NJ area willing to donate their car to me in exchange for a 1098 tax credit worth the book value of the car, please let me know. Because I don't have any money, the car needs to be in decent condition, working, and able to pass inspection. I know beggers can't be be choosers but, I have to put my daughter in this vehicle. I need to know that it is safe for her and me. Thank you for all your help.

  1. Hi - I wouldn't hold out much hope for donations on here.

I'd try local church groups, Goodwill, and any other charity. I have known of some folks that got lucky that way. You might not get a Cadillac, but it'll be decent transportation.

  2. Get a 92-95 Honda Civic. Some of them can get up to 55mpg and the ones that can't are still better on gas than 90% of the cars on the road. They are reliable and fairly safe, though I wouldn't want to be hit by a Hummer in such a small car or any car for that matter.

You should be able to find one on craigslist.
