This has been growing from the edge of an orchid pot, but clearly, it is of a different origin. Does anyone know what it is?

Thanks!

  1. I am very interested in your question and photo. I bought a pot of that plant that grows in a vine at a thrift store. It roots in a circular motion around the pot. I have never seen it bloom so I don't know if it does.

The peperomia answer was interesting. It does look like it may be in that family.

When I first bought it I wondered if it was a breed of fusha. But like I said before, "NO FLOWERS"  at least as of yet.

So I sure will be looking for some more answers to your question. Then my own mystery will be solved.

  2. Looks like the "jade" family........hey that's nice.......very pretty is that a flower trying to form?

  3. It looks like a type of philodendron. :)

Update:  I watched for this plant as I looked for others on the internet and I agree with Chopsaw.  I does look like a Jade plant. The leaves grow in the same pattern (pairs, 90°from each other), but, the leaves on yours don't look as thick as a jade, not like a succulent. If it is a jade, it should have beautiful blooms in the Fall.   ;)

  4. call your local home depot and ask them it dosent look like a weed so i dont think it will harm your plant

  5. That looks like a Peperomia. If I spelled it right. Its been a while since I messed with house plants.

Very fleshy , flat, oval leaves. Succulent in texture. Many varieties available in greenhouses.

  6. It looks like a succulent, so maybe you can identify it by class on line.

  7. My guess is a peperomia.....but I leave it to others who have worked with tropicals more recently than I.
