Can anyone help me learn Italian?

I have taken a year of Italian at school but i will not be able to take another year of it and i was hoping someone would be able to help me.

PBS had a good series on Italian. Your library may be able to provide it for a time. It was based in Stresa near the northern border.

A personal experience for your amusement. On a business trip to Geneva I came across a group of young Italians from various parts. One guy spoke with the unmistakable accent of Stresa, so I asked him. He was dumbfounded that I was able to recognize the accent. He asked where I was from: Chicago. What...??? I explained about the PBS series, but that didn't calm him down.
