u can try for system mechanic ,it not only cleans the registry, but it also use to keep the system with optimum performance,if it not works then u can try for various other registry cleaner which is available free in the web

This is a common problem its known as Computer Lag, and it caused by sometimes viruses but most common is programs running in the background taking all the CPU useage.

Go to start > Run, then type MSConfig.

This will allow you to select the services that are really nescessary to be running all the time, you can disable some if you like.

Also get CCleaner, this deletes Files that are not needed such as cookies etc, these will all help to solve the lag, hope this helps!

Computers fill up in the memory if you do not clean the files now and then, so you can better do a defragment, empty your recycle bin, and do a disc clean up .  If this is of no help than a new computer  maybe better .
