Question:

Can anyone help me pick out a colour for my front door?

I have a blue house, with dark blue trim and I was thinking of painting my front door cranberry red. I have a friend who thinks that is a terrible combination, so now I'm not sure what to do. Like some guidelines before I go ahead with any painting. Thanks!

  1. i thinkt hat cranberry red sounds great!  i dont know though, because i havent seen your house...but it sounds fine to be.  maybe you could just go with dark blue or white...to play it safe.

  2. It's Your home!!! If you like "red" then do it. A friendly reminder for painting anything "red" is depending on what shade of red you choose, it could take up to 7 coats to make it look the way it should.

  3. Cranberry Red sounds cool...... It always helps to look at other houses with the same color and see what color their door is...

    Good Luck!

  4. I think cranberry red is a great idea. Love it!

  5. I think its sounds great, I work at Lowes in the paint dept. and people really like to give their front door a bold different color....on the color wheel blue and red are almost opposite so they really compliment each other, and cranberry red should compliment the light and dark blues that you already have....color is a matter of opinion really, so even tho ur friend thinks its a terrible combo you dont, its your home so do it!

  6. I have a tan/beige house with the forest green shutters and I painted my front door something call verusian red...not bright apple not quite cranberry, but for me it was that little pop.  You would have thought it would have classed but I think it was a nice touch.  I think possible a bright white door might stand out against all that blue though...so maybe think of going a little more traditional.

  7. It sounds nice. If that's what you want, just do it. It's only paint, you can change it if you don't like it after a while. The other poster had a point, though--if you have something else that's red it will be more effective. Doesn't matter what it is. Could be as simple as a planter box painted the same red, or red flowers.

  8. Unless you have other red accents, don't do it.
