  1. ^ I'm with you bcptm.  My husband and I switched over to geothermal two  years ago.  We also installed the new solar thermal pane windows.  Our heating bills (we live in Maine and have long winters) went from an average of $832 each month during the winter months before going geo, down to $102 a month after geo.  My husband just bought our first hybrid two weeks ago.

    My husband is definitely NOT a liberal. He thinks John McCain is a liberal.  But he's smart enough to know what makes sense.

    If this is fairy dust, those who can't find it aren't looking very hard.  Of course, those who aren't using it shouldn't complain about the high cost of heating their homes and running their cars.

  2. ~Oh, you silly, silly boy!  I don't use fairy dust.  I use solar and geothermal energy to heat (and cool) my home.  Nor do I use fairy dust to run my car.  I drive a hybrid, I have a moped for local tooling around and I have a 10 speed bicycle.

    Now why do you REALLY want to find the fairy dust?  Hmmmmmm?

  3. "Change you can believe in" goes in the oil tank and "Yes, we can" goes in the gas tank.

    Neither will work, but hey, it sounds so appealing.

  4. Here in Pa. we need to get the FAIRY DUST out, just look at what is happening all over the states;

    Our gas company requested a 30% rate hike increase for this winters heating, the cap also comes off the electric company in 2009 and the rate hike increase to a small home without electric heat is expected to increase by $71.50 a month.  Even worst is our small County (Luzerne) just paid 8 million to have our property taxes reassessed, many including mine saw a 110 percent property tax increase which will again more than double my school taxes.

    The months of July, August, and September is the quarter of the year which is used to determine the rate of inflation for the yearly COLA increase.  Last year the COLA increase was just 2.3 percent, just a few days after the inflation rate was set the gas prices (and everything else) shot up, this year it seems no one is remembering this fact and are happy these last few weeks as gas prices are TEMPORARILY dropping.  July 31st Senator Akaka announced the Congressional Budget Office has projected only a 2.8% percent COLA increase for 2009 and that is for everyone; veterans, those on social security, postal workers etc.  Something has to be done to halt this déjà vu during this coming month of September.
