Question:

Can anyone help me with a few recipe ideas?

I haven't got much food in & until the end of the month cant really buy much in but I need some useful recipe ideas.

I've got a lot of bacon in, plenty of pasta/rice/instant mash & onions & other than the odd bit of fish (I don't know what sort) that's pretty much it.

I need to make about 3 meals from these & the only inspiration I can find is bacon butties, risotto, carbonara & fish pie but these aren't very filling for my partner after a day at work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Place fish in a foil pouch w/ Italian dressing and halved onions and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Serve over rice.

Cook then chop bacon and saute sliced onions to serve over pasta.

Fry fish filet's and serve a side of instant mashed potatoes with chopped bacon as garnish.

  2. Well...if you have any honey, mustard, salt, and black pepper you can combine:  1 tbsp. mustard (any sort), 1/2 tbsp. honey, black pepper, and salt.  Take this mixture and lightly coat your fish.  You can obvisouly double or even tripple the coating recipe.  Run it under the broiler till done.  As a side why not brown some onions in butter and mix in with your mashed potatoes.  If you have parsley that would be a good 'add-in' as well.  Serve with any veggie if you got it.

  3. you didnt mention any veggies

I cant help you  on this  you will have to have vetables to have this work for you ..at least some tomatos/zucchini/greenbeans/

you have rice - cook   - stewed fish in tomatoes mixed vetables  w/garlic/ onion/ butter/spices - itallian and  butter

mashed potatoes -   fry bacon  cut up in small pieces

add to potato mixture -and roll into balls - roll in breadcrumbs- seasoning and bake in oven till golden brown

    fried fish   and vegetables

pasta with onions/tomato bacon ( fried  and cut up then added ) to

    vegetables

fresh vegetables are a key staple in every home they work wonders with simple meals and are healthy and add to the meal

you can sub canned food - but it is not the same as fresh

  4. You are short on protein, just the bacon & fish; but high on carbs.

Some dried beans would be a good cheap & filling supplement.

Soak overnight, stew with some chopped bacon & sliced onion.

Serve along-side or mixed with rice, pasta, or mashed potato.

Try to get some fresh veggies, cabbage is cheap & plentiful now.

Tomatoes fresh or canned will make a pasta sauce.

You can include the fish in that.

You could make a fish chowder, with milk & potato & onions.

Cook the fish in a little butter or oil first.

Or make it thicker as a sauce over pasta or rice.
