  1. 49

    and

    -38

  2. The first guy is right it's

    49 and -38

  3. absolute value   meaning the number of counting digits away from zero on a number line

    l -2 l  = 2

    l  2  l also = 2

    7 l 3+ 5 ( 6 + 8 ) l

    start with 3 + 5 = 8  and  6 + 8 = 14

    so now we have

    7 l 8 ( 14 ) l

    8 * 14 = 112

    7 l 112 l

    l 112 l = 112

    7 * 112 = 784

use the same concept to solve the second problem
