I was spring cleaning the kitchen this afternoon and I ran into a problem. A glass got stuck inside a mug and I can't get it out. I am trying to separate them but I am having no luck. Does anyone know how to? My husband told me to throw it against the wall and they will separate. Now that is NOT the kind of answer I am looking for. lol

I posted this in DIY because I didn't know where else to put it and yes I am trying to do it myself.

  1. Fill a pan with ice water and put the bottom glass in it, then pour hot water into the top glass.  The contraction and expantion of the two glasses should allow you to seperate them with a twisting motion

  2. try hot water on the bottom one and cold on the inside this should shock them apart,

  3. do not try hot water at all. heat expands glass, therefor use the freezer and place the two glasses in the freezer and they will shrink up a bit to help you seperate them.

  4. hot water inside the glass that is inside..set the outer one in ice water..should come apart i have plastic bowls that are always doing this..lol

  5. Place them in something cold for a while hun, that may help

  6. hot water does not work as both items will expand let them dry out and gentle taps on the mug should shock it loose be prepared you may lose one item and the cuts BEWARE THE CUTS

  7. Run the outside of the mug under very hot water (keeping the water out of the glass). That should cause a small expansion in the size of the mug that ought to be enough to free it.

  8. Put washing up liquid or cooking oil on the outside of the glass and then let it run down between them. the use a twisting motion, gently, after about five minutes, if that doesnt work, throw it against the wall.

  9. place the mug in warm water (not very hot, just warm) in your kitchen sink.  add ice cubes to the glass , then add some cool water.  wait a few minutes (like 5) and they should pull apart

  10. use hot water that should do the trick

  11. You have created a vacuum!!  Try and get something between them to break the seal.  Don't use hot and cold water together, your glass may explode!! I vote for through them against the wall, it would be entertaining at least!!

  12. tap it on the worktop.

hold it to the side, and tap the glass (the one stuck inside the mug) as close to the mug as you can, on the edge of the worktop.

you might have to do it quite hard, but it shouldnt break if you do it close to the mug.
