The main problem seems to be that I have somehow messed up the settings, and now it takes about 2 seconds to shoot a picture when I am in the house. It worked fine at first, and I am still learning this camera.

  1. Is the camera on one of the PASM creative modes? If so, what shutter speed is the camera set on (the number to the left of the f/stop)?

What ISO is it set on? Try using AUTO or a higher ISO (400+) while indoors.

Are you using flash? The slow sync modes will prioritize a slower shutter speed.

Is the self timer on? Press the middle silver button immediately to the left of the pentaprism hump and see if the 2 second timer is selected.

Is "Anti-shock" set to anything other than "OFF"? You can check by entering shooting menu #2 indicated by a little camera with a 2.

If everything fails you can reset all of your settings by entering shooting menu #1 (indicated by a little camera with a 1) and selecting "CUSTOM RESET". Select "RESET" and confirm.
