i have the full norton anti-virus package installed, it includes, firewall, anti-spyware,e-mail protection, etc. I have a problem removeing this virus from my p.c, everytime i run a full system scan, it detects the same trojan when norton had allready resolved it from a previos full system scan. Why do i keep getting this trojan alert in my virus scan ,also can anyone tell me if it is a serious threat to my p.c. I have put the link of the trojan below. thanks.

  1. this is what i do, Download PalTalk.com , and then go to a room called, PCTech room. And then ask them, there are computer whiz's on there that will help you. I have gotten help several times from that site.

I sometimes have even gotten programs for free, instead of having to go to wal-mart to buy them, cuz they know all the free links ect.

And also i have come to find out that AVG Free Edition is better than Norton and it is free.

  2. For complete info on hacking n trojan refer

    It really helped me.....

  3. Yes this can be a nasty one.. Some variants harvest passwords and form field data as well as index your system.

More than likely you can restart your computer in safe mode and remove this trojan with what you have, but turn off sytem restore.

To start your computer in safe mode turn on the system and push the f8 key at about 2 second intervals until you see the menu screen.

choose safe mode and wait for the login screen..login.. Hit the OK button when it prompts you at the pop up. Now run norton.

If this does not work download spybot S&D and make sure you do the update for it. then disconnect from the internet and it will remove the smitfraud variant, I would also suggest running the immunize function from within spybot.

    see link below.

    TURN SYSTEM RESTORE BACK ON...

  4. Dump Norton. Get Windows Live OneCare. Free trial first, then sign up if you like it. I bet it gets rid of your trojan rapid.

  5. If you go to your link click the tab "removal" the first line states turn off system restore - if you don't turn off system restore before doing your scan then the scan will remove the trojan but when you shutdown your PC & re start; system restore will put it back.

    How to remove a trojan:

    1 turn off system restore

    2. re boot in safe mode

    3. run norton

    4. re boot if clean turn on system restore.

  6. Firstly, this is a generic term so it may not be the same file every time, although it may be. Look at the details to find out.

Have you tried disabling system restore? These files can sometimes save themselves in the system restore point, so disabling, scanning then re-enabling can get rid.

Instructions on how to do ths can be found on the link you provided but I will copy and paste here:

I want to turn off Windows XP System Restore

    1Click Start.

2Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

3On the System Restore tab, check Turn off System Restore or Turn off System Restore on all drives.

If you do not see the System Restore tab, you are not logged on to Windows as an Administrator.

    4Click Apply.

5When you see the confirmation message, click Yes.

    6Click OK.

  7. its not that serious. i keep getting the cookie tracker.

and my brother is getting the same thing as u.

now after like 5 or 6 scans... they are gone. just keep doing full system scans, then check it and then click fix

DONT LISTEN TO ANYONE ELSE. THE WORST THING U CAN DO IS DOWNLOAD ANOTHER THING AND THEN U WILL HAVE 2 VIRUS DETECTORS AND HELPERS AND THEN THEY WILL CAUSE A VIRUS. TRUST ME!!!! IT MAY TAKE LONGER THAN 5 SCANS THO. 10 MAX

  8. The reason this is happening is because you have not turned off System Restore before running the system check. Norton is removing the infection BUT your System Restore is re-infecting the computer!

Switch off System Restore on all your drives, run Norton again, let it remove the infections. Re-boot computer and finally, switch System Restore back on.

  9. It's a trojan, so yes it's a threat.

I wonder if you keep going to the same place and reinfecting.  If you run a scan, and it deletes the malware, does it show up again if you immediately run another scan?  If so, then use the removal instructions in the link you posted.  If not, then try rebooting and immediately running a scan.  Again, if you see the infection, use the removal instructions.

But if you don't see the malware after trying both of these, then I think you keep doing whatever is downloading the infection.

  10. try this site:http://us.trendmicro.com/us/home/index.h... use the free malware and virus house call scan =D It's below where it says trendwatch.

I'D do it fast because trojans are really bad.

  11. On the same page

    http://securityresponse.symantec.com/sec...

    - Click Removal and follow the directions they provide

Also you can download the free version of SUPERAntiSpyware and do a system scan

  12. What you have is a form of spyware/malware and you can get rid of the trojan horse by using this program so click on the link to install. (http://www.superantispyware.com)  this program is very good and it does a good job of protecting and getting rid of (spyware, malware, adware, trojan horses, and some computer worms)  So click on the link to get started, once you are at this spyware website , click to install the free version. This spyware program is used often by others  and myself and I always highly recomend it. Good Luck now get started because the longer you wait the more damage the trojan will cause , I also want you to know that you can have more than 1 spyware program installed just in case you are worried, so go on an install ok.

  13. That could be a serious problem. either contact Norton's tech support, or get a different virus system. I have had excellent luck with avast. I had a trojan and it got rid of it no problem.
