Question:

Can anyone help me with an Orchid?

All I know about it is that it's a Dendrobium orchid. It seems to be getting yellow leaves??? I know it's not good. How do I fix it.

  1. Orchid leaves generally turn yellow after the plant has flowered. THe leaves die off, then grow anew in a few months.


  2. this just happened to my orchid and i lost it!! basically, i didn't act soon enough, my plant developed root rot. this happens in a lot of orchids that are not sold to you with the correct growing medium. orchids need to be wet but they also need a chance to dry out, especially during the winter months, they aren't able to do this if they are potted with any type of moss or other undesirable materials. they only need potting bark, you can find it at almost any place that sells plants and other planting goods. it should say "for orchids" on the bag, it's about 3-4 dollars here and one bag will give you enough to pot quite a few plants. you can also use it as a "topper" for other plants potted in soil, it looks nice!
