I've had limewire on my lap top for almost a year and for some reason lately I can't get a connection. It starts to connect and then stops and there is a picture of a brick wall by my connection status. I think this is a fire wall although I don't understand what that is... I appreciate the help, thanks. If you can suggest another free site to use I could use the suggestions.

  1. That's exactly what the problem is, you firewall is blocking LimeWire from accessing the internet, go into your firewall (in most cases Windows Firewall), and tell it to allow LimeWire to access the internet, if you are not running your firewall, if you are behind a router, you may need to do port forwarding

If you need to do port forward, do a google search for "LimeWire port forwarding"

  2. Check out MP3Lingo.com support page.  They have great customer support and don't check if you already have an account with them or not.  They respond fast and wont charge you for support if you just pretend like you are a member.  If that doesn't work, you can just sign up and get music through them.  It's very cheap and they have a ton of music. Try it out when you get a chance, www.mp3lingo.com.

  3. try using  frost wire or  try download lime wire agiagain
