I'm looking for a laptop. i dunno whether to buy it online, or just got to circuit city and buy it. thing is, online, you can customize it. But then there's the shipping. i really need as soon as possible for assignments and stuff.. the price range is around 1000 dollars. preferably a 15.4 ". with a webcam and bluetooth and an intel processor. I'm currently looking at dell's inspiron 1525 or hp pavilion Dav5t series. which one is better? do i need the one year or two year warranty? i need the laptop to last me 3 years to come without causing much problems..

  1. Buying computers in store is usually not the best of ideas because they dont have good spec most of the time.  If you aren't going to use it to play video games as well, you can get a great laptop for that price.

Here's a laptop like what your asking for: http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/c...

Dell has a coupon code out now for 30% off and free shipping on any  laptop priced at $1,349 or more, so for the next two days untill the coupon expires you can get about a $1,400 laptop for about $1,000 after taxes n shipping.

    Here's what i'd suggest:

choose the color you like the most, upgrade the processor to the most expensive on the list, home premium, the 1440x900 display, 4GB of memory, a 160GB hard drive, and a bluray disc combo.  Somewhere down the line of options from there is a integrated webcam option for $25, and an option to upgrade from 4 to 6 cell battery free that you should both take.  Then comes the list of optional c**p/software/extras for you to ignore, but eventually you get to the add to cart button, and from there the page that calculates final costs.  Put JDDXH7BT632VL3 in the coupon code box and hit apply it, calculate shipping, taxes and your final price should be a little over a thousand.

If your going to be buying after two days from now, HP also has good deals at times: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shoppi...

Don't be stuck to just Intel processors.  AMD (Intel's competitor) processors can be good too.  Just make sure you get a processor of at least 2GHz, whoever you buy it from.

  2. bestbuy.com or bestbuy.ca is the best place to purchase laptops, it's the same as purchasing in store, except it's online! makes it really easy when choosing a computer since most stores usually only carry a few different ones.

  3. I strongly recommend you buy it in person.

They could jackup the prices when you customize, and you'll avoid online-Identiy-theft

  4. I bought my Dell XPS on line at the outlet store- a scratch and dent-- get alot more bang for your buck. Dell guarantees its product-  I would only do the one year- but that is a personal choice. Dell does have good support
